Mahatma Gandhi once told, “The day a woman can walk freely at midnight on the roads, that day we can say that India has achieved independence”. Keeping it in mind, the constitution makers accommodated the social, economic, political, and gender equality particularly in the case of women in the constitution of free India and the state is given power to create an environment to ensure the same. However, the harsh reality is that until today women have to fight continuously to come out of the evil claws of the society to establish their needs.
On the backdrop of such reality, in SUM DRISHTI, has taken up many women empowerment projects to enhance the situation of the women such as “Nai Roshini”, where we have started leadership development program for general and minority women as well by rendering soft skills training courses, youth empowerment skills, skill India program, and vocational education in order to provide education, health, happiness, and safety. Our aim is to provide courage to the women to participate in all activities of life actively and take decision for personal development and social development to shine in life. We also assure that these training programs will give them the courage to participate actively in the social, economic, political, and cultural platform too.
Rabindranath Tagore once stated, “By plucking the petals, you do not gather the beauty of the flower”. The greatest challenge for the girls till today is the fear and risk of street harassment by all means. This paramount threat often compels many parents to withdraw their girl child from going to school. It’s truly shocking too when the inaction of the state in many cases is reported everyday in the news.
Keeping this status in view, in SUM DRISHTI, we have contributed a comprehensive program to train school going girls through our NGO “Sashakt Bala”. Here, we train self-defense practice and procedure to the girl child and women through our skill training with the aim to prepare them for self-assured, self-reliant, and grow self-confidence towards their own safety and enjoy the rights given by the state. SUM DRISHTI believes that women are not meant for to survive as an object but to live her life with a sound mind, dignified and gracious livelihood. We also believe that education is the main gateway to enter the world of opportunities and for that purpose; we really feel to make our girls and women sashakt.
